John Connell

John W. Connell, Ph.D. has been providing technical consulting services since 2001.  The consulting services cover a broad range of advanced materials issues including chemistry, characterization, processing and application, including intellectual property (IP) related services including IP landscape assessment, development of IP strategy and preparation of invention disclosures and patent applications. 

His background consists of over 25 years of experience as a senior polymer scientist in the Advanced Materials and Processing Branch at the NASA Langley Research Center. 

John is the author or coauthor of over 100 peer reviewed journal articles, >100 other referenceable publications (i.e. conference proceedings), >35 U.S. Patents, 3 book chapters, 1 book and Editor of two Special Edition Journal Issues. 

He has received many NASA awards including the prestigious Medal for Exceptional Scientific Achievement in 1997, Richard T. Whitcomb Aerospace Technology Transfer Awards in 1998 and 2003, the Turning Goals into Reality Award in 1998, and co-inventor of the commercial invention of the year for all of NASA in 2008.  

He is presently the Editor-in-Chief of the High Performance Polymers Journal and is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (IOP) and The Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE).  He has been worked as a consultant for a variety of companies on technical and IP related issues concerning advanced materials for electrical, medical, aerospace and consumer applications.
